Saleem's offered Lebanese food at various locations from 1974 to 2013. A favorite dish at the restaurant was kibbee, which can be served raw or fried, as a meal or a snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb bulgur (cracked wheat)

  • Water

  • 2 lb lean ground beef or lamb

  • 1 large onion or 2 cups finely chopped onion

  • 2 Tbsp salt

  • 1 Tbsp pepper


Preparation

Cover bulgur with water and let soak 30 minutes before mixing kibbee. Drain well.

Grind meat and onion together or combine meat with finely chopped onion, gradually adding salt and pepper. Mix in bulgur for about 2 minutes.

Serve raw or form mixture into 1/2-inch patties and fry in hot oil.
